REGIONAL/NATIONAL CLUB OF THE YEAR CONTEST 2009Following the successful Region 4 Club of the Year competition last year, the Society is now launching the competition nationwide. The competition will start with the regional heats and the winning club from each of the 13 RSGB regions will then move forward to the national competition. The regional finals will take place in January 2010 and the national contest will be judged in March 2010. The winning club will receive their prize and trophy at the RSGB AGM in April 2010. Regional winners will receive their trophy and prize at a suitable event within their region.
What are we looking for in the region or national club of the year?We are not looking for the biggest club or the smallest club, we are looking for the club that promotes the very best that is the hobby of amateur radio. Be it training, special events, support of the local community, charitable events, public relations, contesting. What ever your club gets involved in throughout the year goes towards being voted the National or Regional Club of the Year. What is the prize?The National Club of the Year will receive a cheque for £1000, the National Club of the year trophy and a plaque. The runners up will receive a cheque for £500 and a plaque and the third placed club will receive a cheque for £250 and a plaque. Regional winners will receive the individual region trophy plus a major prize. All clubs taking part will receive a certificate of entry. ENTRY RULES FOR REGION 1 CLUBSYour RSGB Regional team are looking for RSGB affiliated clubs, groups and societies, within the region, to contact us and tell us why you think your group should pick up the award. Could it be that your club does well on training for the RCF exams? Does your group excel in special event stations or contesting? Public relations? Charitable events? Have you started a new club? Could it be all of these and more? What has your group been up to? We want to know. What the judges are looking for is a club / group worthy of the Region ? Award. The winner will go though to the national final where the best entry from the 13 regions of the RSGB will be awarded "RSGB National Club of the Year". It's a great opportunity to showcase your club. (1) The award is open to any RSGB affiliated group, club or society. (2) The award is not open to individual radio amateurs. (3) All entries must be made electronically, in Microsoft Word in no more than 600 words. (4) A maximum of three photographs per entry in support may also be sent, either embedded within the text or as separate attachments with a maximum 15 words of text per photograph. This is allowed over and above the 600 word allowance per application. Likewise, your club name and contact details will not be included in the 600 word allowance. (5) Only one entry per RSGB affiliated group is allowed. (6) Only one award will be issued. (7) The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. (8) All entries will become copyright of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). The RSGB may use and publish photographs and any information sent by entrants. No part of any entry may be published in part or full by any other publication without the prior and full permission of the Radio Society of Great Britain. (9) Closing date for entries is midnight 31st December 2009. (10) On entering you agree to the above terms and conditions. |
